When we are focussed on getting healthy, losing weight or becoming more fit, it is very easy to slip into unhealthy goals for our bodies. Here are some ways to avoid sliding down the path to unhealthy body goals.
Focus on health: Instead of aiming for 100% perfection (which, let’s face it, is impossible!), we should aim for moderation instead. Being so hard on yourself if you make a mistake during a diet, or overdo it on one day leads to feeling miserable and dejected, and you are more likely to give up on healthy eating altogether! Much better to allow yourself some wiggle room for those days when you are eating out, meeting up with friends or going to a party. If you find yourself putting your diet before social events, or meeting up with people, you are probably becoming unhealthy in your mindset.
Forget crazy diets: Instead of focussing on strict diets, look more to alter unhealthy eating habits. Instead of snacking in front of the TV for example, try eating 3 good meals per day without lots of snacks. Perhaps try introducing more fruits and vegetables into your life rather than focussing on what you can’t have.
